FAQ

Is Zena a credit card?

Not quite! Zena provides a business charge card, which is a bit different from a standard business credit card. With a credit card you have the option of making only the minimum payment (i.e. “revolving”), which generates interest charges as a result. Charge cards require payment of statement balance in full, so there’s never interest.

What are the requirements to sign up?

You must be a business or sole proprietor, and you’ll need to have an active business checking account.

What is a virtual card?

A virtual card is a set of card credentials (card number, expiration, security code) generated and shared digitally that – aside from not being printed on a piece of plastic or metal – works the same way as a physical card. Virtual cards can be used by entering the card credentials at checkout online or by adding and using the virtual card through a payment wallet (ex. Apple Pay).

Is Zena accepted everywhere credit cards are accepted?

Yes, Zena is accepted everywhere where Visa is accepted – both online and in person.

How does Zena handle fraud?

It happens! We’re here to protect you. If you lose your card, or if you notice unauthorized transactions on your account, please reach out to help@getzena.com as soon as possible. You may also report your card lost or stolen directly in the Zena portal, which will immediately prevent any further use of the card.

Our product has been built using best-in-class information security practices (such as end-to-end encryption and two-factor authentication/2FA), and we use Visa’s transactional fraud model to identify and block unauthorized use of your card. That being said, no fraud prevention strategy is perfect. In the event a card becomes compromised, you will not be held liable for any third party fraud (i.e. transactions completed without consent by you or one of your account’s authorized users) as long as you report the related suspicious activity within 60 days.

How does Zena’s expense management work?

Zena has built a “smart” card system from the ground up that makes it simple for you and your team to categorize transactions as they happen in real time, rather than weeks or months after the fact.

  • Your projects: We assign one virtual card for every project you create; using this card will automatically allocate the expense to the appropriate project. You can also use your physical Zena card online or in person, and you’ll immediately receive an SMS / email prompt to tag the expense to a project, if relevant.
  • Your business spend: Zena also supports general business spend, such as office expenses, non-client related travel, and software. To easily pre-categorize and track business expenses in Zena, you can create as many virtual business cards as you’d like, name them “software”, “office expenses”, etc. and then use each categorized card for all expenses in the category.
How and when do I pay my Zena balance?

Zena is currently a daily pay product. Each day, we will add up your spending and automatically collect the total from your linked bank account the following morning. You can always find a full history of payments and statements in your Zena portal.

Can my whole team use Zena?

Yes! You may add as many team members as you’d like. Team members can be added with limited permissions if desired, which means they will only see details on their own projects and cards rather than across the business and cannot access or modify sensitive business information.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes, you may close your account by contacting us at help@getzena.com. You may also freeze or cancel active cards, remove authorized users on your account, or pay your outstanding statement balance at any time.
